• Grab your current read • Open to a random page • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Here’s my random teaser for Tuesday:

Yes, there was a bone in the soup. Yes, it was a smelly bone.

I know you do not eat a smelly bone. But many of the _____________ __ ___________ like to eat such bones. Bobkittens eat them, and rakunks, and pigoons, and liobams. They all eat smelly bones. And bears eat them.

I will tell you what a bear is later.

We don’t need to talk any more about smelly bones right now.

– pp.4-5.

Can you guess from what title it’s from? (I’ll give you a hint…it hits bookshelves TODAY!)

“They ate in the canteen at the end of the trauma ward, where Sonja flaunted the hospital’s most sophisticated piece of technology, an industrial ice machine that inhaled much of the generator power but provided filtered water. The girl was more impressed by her warped reflection on the back of her spoon. ‘It’s December. The whole world is an ice machine.”

‘Now you’re practical,’ Sonja said.

The girl made a face at the spoon. ‘Can fingers ever grow back?’ – p. 45

Here’s my random teaser for Tuesday:

“Under normal circumstances, we bled together at the new moon, according to one of Mama’s schemes. In consultation with a lunar calendar, she’d pulled the blinds and left on nightlights until, through some sympathetic trick of hormones and her own iron will, all three of us had synched up our cycles to the light and the dark, to each other and to the sky. That was the way things used to be in the wild, Mama told us.” – p. 145

Here’s my random teaser for Tuesday:

So, Claire is smarter than I am, but on evenings like this, she still asks my opinion about what she should wear, which earrings, whether to wear her hair up or leave it down. For women, earrings are sort of what shaving is for men: the bigger the earrings, the more significant, the more festive, the evening. Claire has earrings for every occasion. Some people might say it’s not smart to be so insecure about what you wear. But that’s not how I see it. The stupid woman is the one who thinks she doesn’t need any help. What does a man know about things like that? the stupid woman thinks, and proceeds to make the wrong choice. – p.7

Here’s my random teaser for Tuesday:

The guidance counsellors would call me into their offices every week because there was a glaring gap between my grades and the results of my IQ tests, which bordered on deficient. How could I not find the intruder in the series, “syringe, scalpel, skull, drill” when I could recite by heart a passage about Jacques Cartier? I only mastered  what had been specifically taught to me, passed on to me, offered to me. Which is why I understood the word surgeon but not darling or tanning salon or horseback riding… – p. 73.

Martine was whispering to her knees. He bent closer, curling himself around her protectively, bark on her tree. Only when he pressed his cheek against hers could he make out what she was saying. He’d thought she was talking to herself, but she was speaking in English and, therefore, to him.

“Please don’t leave me,” she said.

It was the last thing he’d expected her to say. What could he do?…pp.70-71.
